In 2007 Haley and I decided to do some traveling after university, we love the beach so we moved to Hawaii. That turned into a year of living on the island discovering a love for using my hands. Haley loves her work, I can see it from down deep, she truly loves it and was meant to be a nurse and has a gift to care for people. I wanted to find something I loved and was meant to do, I knew that since I was a kid, but was still looking for it. Through Haley’s encouragement, a lot of praying and a desire not to settle for just any old job, I went for it. Furniture…design it, building it, that’s what I found I love to do. Getting away from the everyday life wasn’t the key to finding it, but it sure did help. We continued on to southern california for schooling in furniture design and construction. That year lead me to start to really believe this is what I need to be doing, but I wanted to explore the craft and not so much the production side of things. I am now at Inside Passage school of fine woodworking studying under Robert Van Norman who learned this craft from late James Krenov. Learning and exploring the use of the hands and eye more than machines.
